Dear Ladies,
Since there hasn't been a post lately I just wanted to give you all some suggested reading for this summer. Now, let me preface this by saying that these are not any Harlequin romance novels... I don't read much of that stuff, but if anyone has any 'chick lit' suggestions I would love to hear them. Here are three books that will make you think and give you great conversation starters at parties. Enjoy!!!!
The Number by Lee Eisenberg
This is a great book about retirement planning... a dry subject, I know, but a really useful take on what you should be thinking about no matter what stage of life you are in...
Nation of Wimps by Hara Estroff Marano
I am just finishing this one up right now and I have to say that I would make this book required reading for all Moms and Dads in the U.S. of A. if I could. It details the (very recent and profound) psychological changes that have occurred in children and young adults who have never had to do anything for themselves because their 'mommies' and 'daddies' do everything for them... scary indeed!!!!
Last Child in the Woods by Ricard Louv
OK, so I haven't read this yet, but I have heard so many great things about it and it won the 2008 Audubon Medal... I just know that the childhood that my kids are experiencing is vastly different than mine (we explored the undeveloped land behind our neighborhood and got chased by wild boar, stayed out until dark and pretty much did whatever we wanted). This book is bound to shed some light on how these changes will play out in our children's future.
